Levelled Phu Thap Boek resort owner sues governor | Bangkok Post: news

(Photos by Soonthorn Khongwarakhom)PHETCHABUN - The owner of a resort forcibly demolished on the popular tourist mountain of Phu Thap Boek has sued the provincial governor and other senior officials for 5 million baht in damages to the property she insists did not encroach on a forest reserve. The complainant was among the owners of 13 allegedly illegal resort hotels on Phu Thap Boek who defied an order for them to dismantle their properties within 37 days. Phu Thap Boek, the highest mountain in Phetchabun, is home to the largest cabbage-farming area in the country. The government has ordered the identification and removal of all resorts and restaurants built illegally on the mountain.
